Is access to FT.com free?
Access to most of FT.com is free although some of its most valuable content is charged for. As a non-subscriber you will have access to a wealth of business insight from the FT in a clear format that is easy to navigate. Non-subscribers can:

  • read and search through the latest FT news, comment and analysis
  • gain access to basic company information
  • use the interactive share charting facility
  • access Your money and Jobs & education

    If you've registered a user name and password with FT.com you can also:
  • manage your portfolio online
  • receive daily email headlines and short summaries news by e-mail

    What technical set up do I require for viewing FT.com?
    FT.com pages have been designed with the home and business user in mind. All pages have been optimised for a screen size of at least 800 x 600 pixels. The site requires that you enable graphics and cookies in your browser set up as they are integral to navigating the site. Also, you need to be sure that Java and Java script are enabled in your browser set up.

    We recommend that you use Netscape 6 (or later versions) or Microsoft's Internet Explorer 5 (or later versions).

    What is the World Press Monitor service? (Level 2 customers only)
    Whether it is through a quick search or a more refined search using our new Power Search tool, subscription Level 2 allows you to access articles from not just the FT archive but also from our World Press Monitor (over 500 of the world's leading business sources).

    How to use the World Press Monitor service:
    1)Ensure you have registered as a Level 2 subscriber
    2)Log on with your username and password
    3)There are three ways to access this service :
     
     
    i) To search on the full content of the World Press Monitor, go to 'Power search' (see 'Search' & 'Quote' box under 'Subscribe to FT.com' section) and choose from the sources options available. Ensure 'news' is selected.
    or
    ii) Select 'Search' on the 'Search & 'Quotes box 'news' section.
    or
    iii) Go to the left hand column bar and select 'Services'. Under 'Services' select 'Search' option.
    4)Only Level 2 subscribers can view the full articles - not only FT content but also the World Press Monitor content indicated by this symbol: Requires subscription

    What is the World Company Financials service? (Level 2 customers only)
    The World Company Financial service gives you access to in-depth financial data on over 18,000 listed companies across 55 international countries. Up to 5 years worth of figures detailing a company's assets and liabilities are available on each company balance sheet as well as details on profit and loss accounts and cash flow statements'. The FT have also ensured you an option to access company's geographical and business performance analysis.

    How to use the World Company Financials service :
    1)Ensure you have registered as a Level 2 subscriber
    2)Log on with your username and password.
    3)Select the 'Investment Data & Tools' option from the FT.com left-hand menu.
    4)Enter the Company name you require (you also have the option of specifying an industry or region)
    5)Click 'go'
    6)Not only will you have access to 'News', 'Quotes' and 'Profile', you also as a Level 2 subscriber, have access to the blue tab, 'Financials'.
    7)Click the 'Financials' tab. You have now entered the World Company Financial Service
    8)You will now see financial data on your selected company.

    Who provides FT.com subscription services?
    FT.com and newspaper subscription services are provided by the Financial Times company specified on the "confirmation" email you will receive after subscribing.     What are FT.com subscription services?
    By subscribing to FT.com subscription services, you will have access to areas of the FT.com website that are not available to all users. There are two levels of subscription - Level 1 and Level 2. You can read more about the services available by clicking here.

    As part of your subscription and depending on where you live, you can also subscribe to the Financial Times newspaper. This allows you to have the FT delivered directly to the address of your choice six times a week.

    How much does the service cost?
    The subscription price is set out on the pages which contain our subscription process - click here to access these. There are no additional delivery costs - although your Internet Service Provider/telephone company may charge you for time spent using the Internet in the same way you pay for telephone calls.

    We will notify you in advance of any price increases to your FT.com subscription or your newspaper subscription.

    How do I pay?
    You can pay by either credit card or debit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards and Switch debit cards (UK customers only). You can choose to pay on an annual or monthly basis, we take payment in advance. If you choose to subscribe, you can provide us with your card details via our secure payment pages which form part of the subscription process. Once you have completed the subscription process and your card has been authorised for payment, you will have access to your subscription services.

    Can I have a free trial? And how do I cancel my subscription?
    When you subscribe to FT’s subscription services, we may give you a free trial. You may cancel your subscription at any time (whether during or after any trial period) by contacting our customer service team on +1 800 628 8088 (US and Canada), +852 2905 5555 (Asia-Pacific), or +44 (0)20 7775 6248 (UK, Europe and rest of world). We will refund you on a pro rata basis. This means that we will refund you any amounts you have paid us in advance that relate to any remaining period of your subscription. Any cancellation will be effective once we receive notice of it.
